God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Leadership in the church should always be shared – that is one reason that the apostolic pattern was to appoint a plurality of elders rather than a solitary elder in all the churches (Acts 14:23). But leaders too need to recognize one of their number as leader. This is an inbuilt principle of life, and we should not despise it. Husband and wife are equal, but leadership naturally rests with the husband. Children are equal in a family, but the oldest is looked to first when a crisis occurs. In some situations there may be one elder or spiritual leader who is actually called “the pastor,” who will be expected to lead his fellow leaders; and in others there will be a team ministry. But in every team there has to be a leader (Derek Prime and Alistair Begg).

A well-trained soldier is not afraid of his adequacy in battle. In fact, in some ways he looks forward to the challenge of using his skills and equipment. It is not the fighting that scares him. It is the realization that out there somewhere may be a bullet with his name on it. But the wonder of the Gospel is that God promised there is no such bullet for the believer. Though we are in for the fight of our lives and may experience great loss – even of our lives – we know that the enemy is ours. God has promised that our souls are secure, and that He will ultimately defeat all our spiritual foes (John Murray).

INGREDIENTS

1 3/4 c Flour
2 tb Unsweetened cocoa powder
1 pn Salt
2 Extra large eggs
2 ts Vegetable oil
4 c Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese
2 c Heavy cream
6 tb Sugar
1 tb Orange zest
2 tb Grand Marnier
1 pn Salt
12 oz Bittersweet chocolate,
Chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

PASTA
FILLING
Combine the flour, cocoa, and salt in a bowl and make a well in the center.
Add the eggs and oil in the center of the well and mix with a fork to form
the dough. Knead the dough for 15 minutes until it is smooth and shiny,
adding more flour if necessary to keep the dough from sticking.
Wrap in plastic wrap and let rest for half an hour. Roll the pasta out by
hand or with a machine and cut into eight 4-1/2 x 11-inch strips. Cook two
strips at a time in boiling salted water. Cook just 20 seconds after the
water returns to a boil. Plunge the noodles into cold water to stop the
cooking. When cooled, place on towels in a single layer to drain.
Combine all filling ingredients and mix until smooth. To assemble: Preheat
oven to 425F with the rack in the upper third of the oven.
Generously butter an 8"x11"x2" pan. Alternate layers of noodles, cheese
filling, and chocolate, ending with a cheese layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes
until the top is lightly colored. Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes to
solidify, then serve warm.
