We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

We must exercise our privilege and responsibility to vote. We must educate ourselves regarding the platforms of the candidates (what do they believe?). We must pray and cast our vote in good conscience. We must trust God that in His sovereignty, ultimately is the one who appoints leaders. We are not to let politics divide our church or hinder our Gospel outreach. We must remember that God can use evil leaders to accomplish His eternal plans. We must trust that God will in all things bring good to His people. We must submit to whomever is appointed to be our next President. We must remember that our highest King is the Lord, Jesus Christ. We must vote not according to feelings or popularity, but rather biblical principles. Law and order. According to Romans 13, this is God’s calling for civil authorities – to reward good and punish evil. Sexuality. Where does he/she stand on the biblical definition of marriage between one man and one woman, gender as created by God and the curriculum introduced to our children? Character. Though we are not electing a pastor, does the man/woman keep his/her word, respect others, deal justly, promote biblical virtues, help the needy, make wise decisions and act as a peacemaker? Effectiveness. Is he/she a proven leader? Will he/she do what is best for the economy, military, environment, education system and health care. Will he/she appoint conservative justices and strictly follow the Constitution? Religious Freedom. Does he/she support the church respecting our freedom to worship? Will he/she support our religious convictions, free speech and private education? Will he/she aid Christians persecuted oversees? Sanctity of life. Does he/she stand for the sacredness of life extending from the unborn to the elderly? Will he/she seek to abolish tax-payer funding for abortion?

Women, too, need to remember the appropriate level of commitment and intimacy on a first date. Guard your heart and your expectations. Do not enter into a first date dreaming about marriage or trying out his last name with your first name; be emotionally prepared for it not to work out. One of the reasons the Christian man may be uneasy about dating is that the risk is too high among many other believers. If he doesn’t end up marrying her, his name will be mud with all the other women at church! Such a man fears to date lest he be forced to leave a church he loves. This kind of situation is unreasonable and unfair; the woman can help by keeping expectations in check and allowing the man to interact with her without easily breaking her heart. But insist that he treat you with respect and care, and do the same to him in return. Like the man, you should resolve that time he spends in your company will have been to his spiritual blessing and will have been pleasing to the Lord. If you don’t want to go out again, be honest. But don’t tell your friends about the things you found unattractive; protect his reputation and cover his flaws in love (Richard and Sharon Phillips).

CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
1 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1 Recipe dough from "Buttery Dinner Rolls"
3 tb Butter or margarine, melted
1/3 c Sugar
2 ts Ground cinnamon
1 ts Grated lemon peel
1/2 c Raisins
1/2 c Confectioners' sugar
1 tb Lemon juice (up to 2)

INSTRUCTIONS

FILLING
GLAZE
Make same dough as Buttery Dinner Rolls, through first rise.
On a lightly floured surface, roll and spread the dough to a 12 inch by 15
inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Combine the sugar, cinnamon and
lemon peel; sprinkle evenly over the butter. Sprinkle with raisins.
Starting from a long side, roll up the dough tightly. Pinch the long edge
of the dough into the roll. Slice into 9 rolls. Place in a greased 9 by
9-inch baking pan, cut side up. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45
minutes.
Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 10
minutes. Combine 1 Tbsp lemon juice with the confectioner's sugar, adding
only enough additional lemon juice to make a very thick glaze. Drop and
spread with a teaspoon over the rolls.
Note: I'm thinking about trying orange peel and juice instead of lemon, but
haven't done so yet.
