What must not be lost sight of is that unpleasant as is the task of the jailer and the use of the whip, the cell, the noose, the guillotine, these things stand behind the stability of civilized society, and they stand there necessarily, for God has declared it so, in harmony with reality, rather than with apostate sociological opinion. Government, with its coercive powers is a social necessity, but one determined by the Creator, not by the statistical tables of some university social research staff! No society can successfully vote fines, imprisonment, corporal and capital punishment away permanently. The society which tries has lost touch with realities of man (his fallen sinful state), realities of the world, and the truth of divine revelation in nature, man's conscience, and the Bible (Robert Culver).
However one chooses to interpret Revelation 3:20, it must not be thought that the sinner possesses the power to open his own heart to Christ. Only God can do this (John 6:44; Acts 16:14; James 1:18). Although God’s sovereignty in salvation does not negate our responsibility to proclaim the Gospel to all men, we must never suggest to people that the power to convert their hearts lies within them (Psalm 110:3; Philippians 1:29; 2 Timothy 2:24-26) (Darryl Erkel).
Dice celery and onions. Place in 4 quart pot, cover with water and cook
slowly over medium heat one hour or until celery is soft. Season with
celery salt and 2 or 3 chicken bouillon cubes for every quart of water. In
a separate pot melt butter over low heat. Add flour until it becomes a
paste. Add milk, stir until white sauce is thickened. Add mixture to celery
pot. Cook 1/2 hour (medium heat). Slowly put mixture into blender at high
speed. Return to soup tureen and serve.
