We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Genuine faith that saves the soul has for its main element – trust – absolute rest of the whole soul – on the Lord Jesus Christ to save me, whether He died in particular or in special to save me or not, and relying, as I am, wholly and alone on Him, I am saved.
C.H. Spurgeon

When I was coming to Christ, I thought I was doing it all myself, and though I sought the Lord earnestly, I had no idea the Lord was seeking me. I do not think the young convert is at first aware of this… One week-night, ... the thought struck me, "How did you come to be a Christian?" I sought the Lord. "But how did you come to seek the Lord?" The truth flashed across my mind in a moment – I should not have sought Him unless there had been some previous influence in my mind to make me seek Him. I prayed, thought I, but then I asked myself, How came I to pray? I was induced to pray by reading the Scriptures. How came I to read the Scriptures? I did read them, but what led me to do so? Then, in a moment, I saw that God was at the bottom of it all, and that He was the Author of my faith, and so the whole doctrine of grace opened up to me, and from that doctrine I have not departed to this day, and I desire to make this my constant confession, "I ascribe my change wholly to God"

INGREDIENTS

1/4 c Butter
1/4 c Scallions or Green Onions; chopped
2 tb All-purpose Flour
2 tb Granulated Sugar
1/8 ts Dried Thyme
1/8 ts Ground Nutmeg
1 ts Salt
1/8 ts Ground Black Pepper
1 1/2 c Milk
2 pk (24-oz.) frozen Peas

INSTRUCTIONS

Melt the butter in a saucepan over moderate heat; add the scallions,
and gently sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Sprinkle
in the flour, sugar, thyme, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Stir to blend
and remove from the heat.
Add the milk and stir to blend all the ingredients. Return the
mixture to the heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture
comes to the boil and is smooth and thickened. Reduce the heat to low
and continue cooking for about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, cook the peas in lightly salted boiling water until just

warm over hot water in a double boiler, reheating the creamed onion
sauce if necessary.
