Gumdrop Cake

INGREDIENTS

1/2 lb Raisins
1 lb Large gum drops, dredge in flour
1/2 c Walnuts
1 tb Butter
1/2 c Shortening
1 c Sugar
1 Egg
3/4 c Apple sauce
1/2 tb Baking soda, disolve in 1 tb wate
2 c Flour
1 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Salt
1/2 ts Nutmeg
1 tb Vanilla
1/2 ts Cloves

INSTRUCTIONS

Dredge sliced gum drops in flour. Fry nuts in 1 tbsp butter. Cream
shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add applesauce.
Sift dry ingredients except soda and add to mixture. Disolve the baking
soda and add. Stir in gumdrops, raisins, and nuts.
Pour into wax paper lined pans (use two round pans)
Bake 350 degrees for one hour.
