We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Whatever is meant by the 'made Himself void,' [emptied Himself], which describes His Incarnation here, one thing it could never possibly mean – a 'kenosis' which could hurt or distort His absolute fitness to guide and bless us whom He came to save. That [emptying] placed Him indeed on the creaturely level in regard of the reality of human experience of growth, and human capacity for suffering. But never for one moment did it, could it, make Him other than the absolute and infallible Master and Guide of His redeemed.
H.C.G. Moule

The judgment executed on Christ puts to death any thought that God could otherwise forgive sin. Unless there was no other way for us to be redeemed, the cross makes no sense… If there was any way to save the world other than by Jesus’ death on the cross, then His death was unnecessary and foolish. Would not a viable alternative make a mockery of Jesus’ own agonized words in the Garden of Gethsemane: “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me” (Matt. 26:39)? The cup was not removed, for there was no other way.

INSTRUCTIONS

Roberta Banghart's recipe for tomato sauce prompted me to share this
wonderful creation by Julie Rosso, co-owner of The Silver Palate in
N.Y. This continues to be one of my favorite "summer" dishes. I trust
you will also enjoy it. Combine tomatoes, Brie, basil, garlic, 1 cup
olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper in large serving bowl. Prepare
at least 2 hours before serving and set aside, covered, at room
temperature. Bring 6 quarts water to boil in large pot. Add 1
tablespoon olive oil and remaining salt. Add linguine and boil until
tender but still firm, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain pasta and immediately
toss with tomato sauce. Serve at once, passing peppermill and grated
Parmesan cheese. Makes 4 to 6 servings. Posted to KitMailbox Digest
