We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Though we have been forgiven, and though we have been made new in Christ, we’re like Lazarus. We came out of the grave; we have new life, but we stink. We have our dirty grave clothes on. We are a new creation, incarcerated in unredeemed flesh. And we are seduced by the remnants of our fallenness. Satan’s temptation to us is to hold onto sin and not come to righteousness. Satan’s temptation to us is to hold onto the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
John MacArthur

If we would stop treating Sunday as a second Saturday, one more day to run to Home Depot, one more day for the kids’ soccer games, another day for getting ready for Monday, if we would rediscover Sunday as The Lord’s Day, focusing on Him for just one day each week, what would be the immediate impact between today and one year from today? By one year from today, we will have spent 52 whole days given over to Jesus. Seven and a half weeks of paid vacation with Jesus. He’s a good King. Maybe we should put Him first in our weekly schedules. Not fit Him into the margins of our busy weekends, but build our whole weekly routine around Him.

Martha Stewart's Meringue Buttercream Icing (in May issue)
1. In sm. saucepan over med. heat, bring sugar and 1/3 C water to a boil.
Boil until syrup reaches soft-ball stage (238 deg. on a candy thermometer).
2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, use the whisk attachment to beat egg
whites on low speed until foamy. Add cream of tartar and beat on med. high
speed until stiff but not dry.
3. With the mixer running, pour the sugar syrup into egg whites in a
steady stream and beat on high speed until steam is no longer visible,
about 3 minutes. Beat in butter, piece by piece. Add vanilla and beat for 3
to 5 minutes, until frosting is smooth and spreadable. If it looks curdled
at any point during the beating process, keep beating to smooth it out. If
it becomes too soft for piping, stir over ice water to stiffen. (This
buttercream holds its shape particularly well, making it good for
decorating.)
