INGREDIENTS

3/4 c Butter or margarine
1 c Sugar
1 Egg
1/4 c Molasses
2 c All-purpose flour
2 t Baking soda
1/4 t Salt
1 t Ground cinnamon
1 t Ground cloves
1 t Ground ginger
Additional sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

In a mixing bowl, cream the  butter and sugar. Add egg and molasses;
beat well. Sift together dry  ingredients; gradually add to creamed
mixture. Mix well. Chill the  dough. Roll into 1-1/4 in. balls and dip
into sugar. Place 2 in.  apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375
degrees F for about 10  minutes or until set and surface cracks. Cool
on wire racks. Makes 4  dozen.  (From the Dec/Jan '92 issue of Country
