Spiced Apple Strudel

INGREDIENTS

1/2 c Melted butter
1/4 c Brown sugar
4 Peeled, cored & sliced
Apples
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 c Raisins
2 tb Flour
5 Sheets of phyllo
Sugar to sprinkle on top
Optional

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat 2 tb of melted butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add brown sugar
and cook until disolved. Add apple slices,lemon juice, cinnamon and raisins
and cook until apple slices are just tender, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle in
flour and gently mix until combined. Remove from heat and cool to room
temperature.
Layer the 5 phyllo sheets, brushing each layer with melted butter. Complete
as follows:
1. Place apple filling 2 inches (5 cm) from bottom edge and 3 inches (8 cm)
from both sides.
2. Fold bottom flap and sides over filling. Brush butter on unbuttered
sections of phyllo for sealing. Fold top down. Brush top with butter and
sprinkle with sugar, if desired.
3. Score top of phyllo with a serrated knife to ease cutting after it is
baked. Bake in oven pre-heated to 400 F (200 C) for 20 to 25 minutes or
until puffed and golden.
4. Allow strudel to set fro 15 to 20 minutes before sliceing. Serve warm
with vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
