Meats Vietnamese Frugal03 4 servings

INGREDIENTS

2 c Beef stock; fresh or canned
2 c Chicken stock; fresh or canned
4 Raw beef slices; very thin
1 pn Sugar; or to taste
Ground allspice; to taste
Fresh coriander leaves

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine and heat the beef and chicken stocks in a pot. When the stock is
boiling, add a pinch or two of sugar and some ground allspice (very
little). Add the raw beef and cook for just a few seconds so that the beef
remains very tender and not overcooked. Garnish the soup with the fresh
coriander leaves. Often cooked noodles and sliced onion are served on the
side. Each person can add either or both to his or her soup bowl.
