In Shansi I found Chinese Christians who were accustomed to spend time in fasting and prayer. They recognized that this fasting, which so many dislike, which requires faith in God, since it makes one feel weak and poorly, is really a Divinely appointed means of grace. Perhaps the greatest hindrance to our work is our own imagined strength; and in fasting we learn what poor, weak creatures we are-dependent on a meal of meat for the little strength which we are so apt to lean upon.

Wild Rice/rice And Chicken Combo

INGREDIENTS

2 c Cooked wild rice
2 c Cooked basmati or your
favorite white rice
1 Handful raisins, dried
cranberrys added to the
water as it begins to
simmer
1/4 c Each chopped onion
optional and chopped
celery sauteed
1/2 c Chopped mushrooms, up to 1

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix all cooked ingredients and add enough cream and chicken broth to
saturate well.  Salt & pepper as desired.  Bake @ 350 *F for 30
minutes. I serve this with baked chicken, or with leftover chicken
that has been chopped and added to the rice mixture upon baking.  This
should feed 4 - 8 people, depending on serving size and other  foods
