1. Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery:
• received the Aaronic priesthood from John the Baptist
• received the Melchizedek priesthood from Peter, James, and John

2. Melchizedek and Aaronic Orders are considered to be one priesthood ‘without beginning of days or end of years’

3. Doctrine and Covenants 84:17 – ‘And through this authority of the priesthood only, men speak and act in the name of the Lord for the salvation of humanity.’
