We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

We would worry less if we praised more. Thanksgiving is the enemy of discontent and dissatisfaction.

READ Psalm 8:1-9

THINK List some of the things (about ten or twenty) which make you aware of the greatness of God. —————————————————————– FOCUS Every word of this superb Psalm is spoken to our Creator and Lord, who has made himself known to his people. His ‘greatness is seen in all the world’ (1). Th psalmist gives us his list of things which make him aware of God’s greatness. 1. GOD’S GREATNESS IS SEEN IN CHILDREN’S PRAISES (2a). The body of a little baby with its natural impulses and its power to grow is like a song to its Maker and God can make even little children sing praises to him, as in Matthew 21:15,16. 2. GOD’S GREATNESS IS SEEN IN HIS OWN SECURITY. ‘You are safe and secure from all your enemies; you stop anyone who opposes you’ (2b GNB). 3. GOD’S GREATNESS IS SEEN IN HIS CREATION (3). The night sky is full of the glory of God’s handiwork – countless stars that are light years away. And despite the advances of modern astronomy, there is still much that we don’t know about the, But God knows all about them for he created them. 4. GOD’S GREATNESS IS SEEN IN HIS CARE FOR PEOPLE (3,4). The immensity and complexity of God’s creation make people seem insignificant. Yet God cares for each one of us. Despite our frailty God put everything that he had created on earth under control of human beings (5-8; Genesis 1:26-30). But humans have not made good rulers (6). They have failed to care for each other or their environment in the way God intended. Only one man is fit for God’s crown (Hebrews 2:5-9). —————————————————————–
