God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Many Christians now speak of the Bible’s metanarrative – its all-encompassing story line. In the Bible, God has revealed the story that underlies every true story, and in which every other true story finds its meaning. That is the story of God’s determination to glorify Himself by saving sinners through the atonement accomplished by His own Son. As Christ Himself made clear, every word of Scripture serves to tell this story.
Albert Mohler

I have found it is impossible to be unforgiving toward those I am praying for. It's not easy to start praying for them; it's one of the hardest things I've done. But when I make that person an object of prayer, I open the door of my heart a little wider so that God can come in and breathe on my hardened heart, melting the icy resentment that is there.

27 THE KING OF GLORY

PRAY Reveal more of your glory to me today, holy God.

READ Psalm 24:1-10.

THINK Imagine that the ancient doors of verse 7 are attached to your home! What differences would it make to your life if the King were to bodily come in? —————————————————————– FOCUS This psalm was originally written for when the ark of the Lord (the Covenant Box) was taken up to Jerusalem. We can imagine the procession as the people approached the city ‘with shouts of joy and the sound of trumpets’ (2 Samuel 6:15). ‘WHO IS THIS GREAT KING?’ (8). The two previous psalms help us to answer this question more fully. Psalm 22 shows us the SAVIOUR and contains many references to the suffering of Christ. Psalm 23 shows us the SHEPHERD (compare John 10) and reminds us of Christ’s power to feed, to guide and to protect. Psalm 24, completes the picture. It shows us the SOVEREIGN, the Lord of Glory who wants to govern his people according to his perfect will and purpose. ‘WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO GO UP TO THE LORD’S HILL?’ (3). In other words, for a place in his kingdom and palace? Verse 4 supplies the answer. ‘PURE IN ACT’ suggests a life which is outwardly free from sinful actions. ‘PURE … IN THOUGHT’, speaks of an inward holiness. It is such people who will feel at home in God’s presence, where no sin can survive for a moment. You may read a further description in Psalm 15. —————————————————————— PRAY Cleanse me, O Lord, from all sin, that I may be worthy to share your kingdom. Amen. =====================
