Had Jesus wavered, had He faltered, had He balked, all hope of heaven would have been dashed on the very rocks with which the enemy tempted Him. Of the dozens of things Jesus might have done to withstand temptation, He is led by the Spirit to fast.

Chop fine enough salt pork to fill 1 cup and pour over it 1 cup boiling
water. 1 cup sugar 1 cup molasses 1/2 cup chopped raisins 1 tsp soda 1 tsp
cloves 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg flour This makes 2 loaves. (no quantity
for flour given for this or many recipes in this book.)
