READ: Pray for the Shepherd’s care.

  1. Israel and Judah had paid a high price for their evil ways and their wicked leaders (shepherds). But the faithful were still God’s people. What does the Shepherd do for His sheep? Contrast this with the false, evil shepherds of Israel.

Study John ch10v1-30 to discover why Jesus claimed to be the Good Shepherd. Psalm ch23 tells what He will do for His sheep.

READ: Pray for God to Do “Impossible” Things.

  1. Daniel was probably a teenager when he was deported by the Babylonians after they had captured Jerusalem. He quickly rose to prominence because of his trust in the God of Heaven. What did Daniel believe about Him?
  2. How can you be confident that the God of Heaven has the future in His hands?

READ: Pray for Times to Experience God’s Greatness.

  1. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had conquered all the countries of the known world. Yet, one day he met his match. Here is his testimony of how he came to believe in the Most High God. Summarize it in your own words.
  2. What adjectives describbe the Most High God?

READ: Pray for Love of the Truth.

  1. After the destruction of Judah and the scattering of the people throughout the world, Zechariah predicted their return to the Land (Zion). What is the LORD of Hosts like? What did He promise to do for His people?
  2. What did He command the people to do?

“Hosts” refers to the huge multitude of heavenly beings that the LORD directs. The name LORD of Hosts appears almost 300 times in the Old Testament. Read what He says in Malachi about people who reject Him.

READ: Pray for a Passion to Glorify God.

  1. What was the reaction of people to the birth of the Saviour? What did they believe about Him?

READ: Pray for an Inquisitive Mind.

  1. For over 600 years the Jews had been looking for the promised Messiah (translated Christ). What convinced the Samaritan woman that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah? And what was her response to Him?
  2. What did the disciples learn in this passage?
