We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

There is no greater love song to proclaim than the once for all sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord at Calvary, but yet others feel content to sing about the chaff of this world. What the New Testament church wrestled with the least is what our industry craves the most – money. How dare we think we can play politics with God, with His truth and with His church? We can't negotiate with sin no matter what kind of capital is at stake – and that really is the issue here.

God wants us to follow a recurring pattern of intense work and then rest, intense work and then rest, and so forth. Whatever view one takes of the Sabbath, surely the six days of work and the one day of rest embedded in the creation remain relevant in some sense. Any routine of life that is unsustainable long-term cannot be of God. He calls us to work. But he also calls us to rest, in order to work most fruitfully. What sets us apart is this. We rest, in order to work; we do not work, in order to rest. We who believe the gospel are not living for the weekend, but for The End. In the meantime, we figure out rhythms of life that make fruitful labor sustainable.

    Spiritual blindness is far worse than physical blindness. In John ch12v27-50, Jesus explains what faith in Him does.

    1. Jesus is called the Son of Man more than eighty times. It designates Him as the highest representative of mankind to God. What makes Him different from everyone else?

    3. Since the Son of Man is coming back soon, how should I live? Am I ready? Why?

    READ: Pray for Experience of Knowing God’s Love.

    1. The people of Christ’s day had no concept of the Fatherhood of God. When Jesus talked about His intimate oneness with God the Father, it was startling and revelutionary. Just before He went to the cross Christ poured out His heart in prayer. Describe His relationship with the Father?
    2. What did Jesus ask the Father to do for those who believed in Him?
    3. God is my Father because I believe in Christ. Therefore I:

    DEED: Pray for Unity With Other Believers.

    READ: Pray for wisdom from God.

    1. The Spirit of God is equal with God the Father and God the Son in the Trinity. Describe the Spirit of God and what He does for the believer.
    2. According to Romans ch8v1-11, what else does the Spirit do for those who are in Christ?

    READ: Pray for Perserverance in the Midst of Suffering.

    1. Christ is referred to as Lord more than 650 times. How will Jesus show He is Lord over all?
    2. What will happen to believers? To unbelievers?
    3. Jesus Christ is my Lord! Therefore, I will:

    DEED: Pray for wisdom to Glorify the Name of the Lord Jesus.

    1. The deity of Jesus Christ is emphasized in His name Son. He is eternally distinct in personality from the Father and the Holy Spirit. Yet, He possesses the same nature and attributes. Describe the uniqueness of the Son.
