  1. Since the time of Moses, God’s presence with His people was symbolized in the ark, a portable, golden altar. Because the people were now settled in the land, Solomon built a magnificent temple for the LORD. At the dedication ceremony, what did he say was so great about the God of Israel?
  2. In the remainder of his prayer (verses 31-53), what did he ask God to do for people who repented of their sins?

The name God of Israel appears over 200 times representing the Lord’s Sovereignty over the Nation and His people. Finish reading about the dedication in 2Chronicles ch7. To discover more about His leadership, read Psalm ch68 and Jeremiah ch44.

DAY 10 Date ../../.. Lord (Adonai) Isaiah ch6v1-8

READ: Pray for a Glimpse of His Majesty.

  1. Old Testament scholars translated the Hebrew name Adonai as “Lord”, and Jehovah as “LORD”. Adonai refers to His right to possess and rule His creation. Describe in your own words what Isaiah saw when he looked at the Lord (Adonai).
  2. Study LORD and Lord in Psalm ch110v1. Remember these distinctions don’t hold true in the New Testament. Now study Matthew ch22v41-46 and Acts ch2v32-36. Who is the Lord (Adonai)? What causes you to believe that?
  3. When the Lord says, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us [the Triune God]?” my response is:

READ: Pray for Insight.

  1. For hundreds of years Israel had disobeyed God by doing wicked and evil things. Even though the Lord punished them severely, He promised them hope through the coming child (Christ). List His names and their meanings.
  2. On the night before He went to the cross, Christ offered hope and peace of mind to His followers in John ch14v1-31. How was the Lord living up to His names given in Isaiah?
  3. My response to the Prince of Peace is:

READ: Pray for the Realization of His Presence With You.

  1. Because of their wickedness the northern tribes (Israel) were destroyed by Assyria in 722 B.C., and the southern tribes (Judah, also called Israel) were destroyed and scattered by Babylon (the Chaldeans) in 586 B.C. However, the Holy One still was committed to His people. What promise did He promise them?
  2. What facts about the Holy One make Him the unique God above all other gods?
  3. Because the Holy One loves me and I am precious in His sight, I:

DEED: Pray for Courage to Become His Witness. O Holy One, help me to tell a needy person of Your restoring power to:

NEED: Pray for Sensitivity to Perceive What God Is Doing.

  1. God promised that He would send His Righteous On (Jesus Christ). What did He do for us? Why do we need Him?

  1. The Israelites were tempted to depend upon the gods of the surrounding powerful nations. Compare their idols with the Living God.
