We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

Some people object to taking vows, but in the Bible you will find many great men of God directed by covenants, promises, vows and pledges. A carnal man refuses the discipline of such commitments. He says, “I want to be free. It is legalism.” There are many religious tramps in the world who will not be bound by anything. Now there are five vows I have in mind which we do well to make and keep. 1. Deal thoroughly with sin. 2. Never own anything- get rid of the sense of possessing. 3. Never defend yourself. 4. Never pass anything on about anybody else that will hurt him. 5. Never accept any glory. Remember that these five vows are not something you write in the back of your Bible and forget. They have got to be written in your own blood.

How can all things be worked together by God for good? The answer is at hand. It is because God's ultimate purpose is to make us like Christ. His goal is the complete restoration of the image of God in His child! So great a work demands all the resources which God finds throughout the universe, and He ransacks the possibilities of joys and sorrows in order to reproduce in us the character of Jesus.

An idea for a New Homeowner Welcome Letter

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

It’s an exciting and hectic time moving into a new house, isn’t it! Not only the house and new neighbors, but lots of details to work out as you make the new house your Home.

But there’s another home, even nicer than the one you’ve just purchased…

Jesus told his followers, “Believe in God and believe also in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house, and I am going to prepare a place for you. I would not tell you this if it were not so. And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am.”

Do you know how to get to this new home? Jesus gives the directions, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me. Now that you have known me,” he said to his followers, “you will know my Father also, and from now on you do know him and you have seen him.” Jesus also mentions that “If you love me, you will obey my commandments. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever. He is the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God.”

Jesus is like the decorator in God’s house, and he’s getting your new room ready for you. As long as you know, love, and obey Jesus, the place is yours – you’ll be welcomed as part of his family.

There are many churches in the [YOUR CITY] area, where people get together to learn more about God, love him, and obey him. We hope that you will find a church family that welcomes you to the new neighborhood and encourages you to grow close to Jesus.

Again, Welcome to the Neighborhood!
