God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)
As Christians, our lives should be marked by joy (Phil. 4:4), taste like joy (Gal 5:22), and be filled with the fullness of joy (John 15:11). Busyness attacks all of that. One study found that commuters experience greater levels of stress than fighter pilots and riot police. That’s what we are facing. When our lives are frantic and frenzied, we are prone to anxiety, resentment, impatience, and irritability.
Our most merciful Father, seeing us to be oppressed and overwhelmed with the curse of the law...sent His only Son into the world and laid upon Him all the sins of all men, saying, 'You be Peter that denier, Paul that persecutor, blasphemer and cruel oppressor, David that adulterer, that sinner who ate the apple in Paradise, that thief who hung upon the cross, and briefly, you be the person who has committed the sins of all men. See therefore that You pay and satisfy for them.'
Sift the flour into a bowl and make a well in the centre. Break the eggs in
the centre and beat lightly with a fork. Add the remaining ingredients,
except the oil and icing sugar, and gradually incorporate them into the
flour. Knead to form a smooth dough, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate
for 1 hour. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to form a thin
even sheet and cut into the desired shapes. Quickly deep fry the pastries
in hot veg oil until pale and crisp. Do not allow to brown. Set aside to
drain and cool on paper towels. Dredge the pastries in icing sugar and
store in a covered container until ready to serve. Typed for you by Sherree
