Ingredients: 1 Egg; 1/2 c Sugar; 1 c Milk; 3 tb Orange juice; 1 c Apple; peeled, cored, chopped; 1/2 ts Vanilla; 2 c Self-rising flour; Canola oil; Sifted confectioners' sugar

We’ve watched the biblical content of services shrink beyond visibility. But doesn’t faith come by hearing the word of Christ (Rom. 10:17)? Are the spiritually dead not born again by the living and abiding Word of God (1 Pet. 1:23)? Do the people of God not grow by the pure milk of God’s Word (2:2)? Then does it not matter what we read, preach, and sing in our services, and in what quantities? Should we not be alarmed when we see self-centered sermons replace biblical exposition, repetitious choruses replace biblically rich hymnody and psalmody, token prayers replace a full-diet of biblical prayer (for example, praise, confession, thanksgiving, intercessions), and Scripture reading disappear altogether?

God decreed from eternity past that you would be like Christ (Rom. 8:29-30); He put His Holy Spirit in you to make sure that it would happen (Phil. 2:12-13); Christ prayed for you to be sanctified, and His prayers are always answered (Jn. 17:17); He even promises you that He will lovingly discipline you in order to return you to holiness whenever you stray (Heb. 12:5-10). How could we ever doubt that God means what He says, “Without holiness no one will see the Lord” (Heb 12:14)?

INGREDIENTS

1		Egg
1/2	c	Sugar
1	c	Milk
3	tb	Orange juice
1	c	Apple; peeled, cored, chopped
1/2	ts	Vanilla
2	c	Self-rising flour
		Canola oil
		Sifted confectioners' sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

DIRECTIONS 1. Beat egg. Add sugar. Slowly stir in milk and orange juice. 2.
Blend in apple, vanilla and flour. 3. Drop mixture by teaspooonfuls into
hot oil. Fry until brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. Drain in
colander or on paper towels. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Serve warm.
