CATEGORY CUISINE TAG YIELD
Grains, Eggs Dessert 8 Servings

INGREDIENTS

1/4 ts Baking soda
1/4 ts Ground nutmeg
1/4 ts Ground cloves
1/4 ts Ground cinnamon
1/8 ts Salt
1/4 c Margarine; softened
1/4 c Nuts; chopped (optional)
1/2 c Brown sugar (may use half honey; half brown sugar)
1 Egg; beaten
1/2 c Whole wheat or unbleached flour
2 1/2 c Apples; chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

In a mixing bowl, combine baking soda, spices, salt and softened margarine;
mix well, slowly adding the sugar. Add egg and flour, blending thoroughly.
Fold in apples. Pour into a buttered pan or casserole; bake in a preheated
350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until the center is firm. Better if
pecans or walnuts are sprinkled over top before baking.
