We Love God!

God: "I looked for someone to take a stand for me, and stand in the gap" (Ezekiel 22:30)

It should fill us with joy, that infinite wisdom guides the affairs of the world. Many of its events are shrouded in darkness and mystery, and inextricable confusion sometimes seems to reign. Often wickedness prevails, and God seems to have forgotten the creatures that He has made. Our own path through life is dark and devious, and beset with difficulties and dangers. How full of consolation is the doctrine, that infinite wisdom directs every event, brings order out of confusion, and light out of darkness, and, to those who love God, causes all things, whatever be their present aspect and apparent tendency, to work together for good.
J.L. Dagg

Jacob is about to enter the Promised Land. He will be one of the venerated Patriarchs of the faith. But before Jacob can become Israel, the man must be broken. Jacob needs to learn that his life is to be one of continual striving with God, but doing it with full dependence on God. He will learn that with God there is a continual heat from the refiner’s fire, but through the adversity there is an unspeakable joy in the journey. And though God probably won’t be wrestling with any of us physically like He did with Jacob, there is a continual tension of finding our greatest peace when we are most intimate in close communion with God. At times we struggle, but in the pain we learn to submit to His will, allow Him to expose our defects, yield to the wounds He creates and then trust Him that the pain is for our greatest good as the “old man” is further put to death. If we act in the flesh and run away or defend ourselves or blame others or whine and complain, we’ll never experience this. As creatures so prone to follow our selfish instincts, there is a serenity that comes when God wrestles us to the ground, breaks us further of our pride and reminds us that our sufficiency is only in Him.

INSTRUCTIONS

I thought I would share this cheese cake I tested out on my coworkers
to see if it was good enough for Thanksgiving. I used the recipe on
the back of Fat Free Philly Cream Cheese for the cake & the "Oatmeal
Fudge Bars" from the fatfree archives for the crust. Crust: Mix
oatmeal & applesauce & let sit for 5 min. Mix in rest of ingreadiants.
Spread in a sprayed baking dish and bake for 10 min @ bars use an 8 x
8 or 9 x 9 pan and bake for 22 min @ 325. Cheese Cake: Mix Cream
Cheese and Sugar together until creamy then add eggs & vanilla. Don't
overbeat after adding eggs. Pour on top of fudge bar crust & bake for
40 min. Cool & chill overnight & top with Cherry pie filling. WARNING
this is RICH!!! I test alot of recipes on people I work with
(especially desserts) & never tell them the stuff is fat free. I
haven't ever had any comments that stuff tasted odd. This cake got
rave reviews in the Potluck today & several people asked for the
recipe. Posted to fatfree digest V97 #277 by <tbednarick@aarcorp.com>
