Molasses Cookies

INGREDIENTS

3/4 c Shortening
1 c Sugar
1/4 c Dark molasses
1 Egg
1 ts Baking soda
2 c Sifted flour
1/2 ts Ground cloves
1/4 ts Ground ginger
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Salt

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 375. Melt shortening in a pan over low heat. Remove from
heat and allow to cool. Add sugar, molasses, and egg; beat well. Sift
together flour, baking soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and salt. Add to the
first mixture; mix well. Chill dough, then form into 1-inch balls. Roll in
sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
