Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies

INGREDIENTS

1 c All-purpose flour
1/2 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Ground cinnamon
1/4 ts Ground nutmeg
1/2 c Firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c Sugar
1/2 c Shortening
1 Egg
2 tb Milk
2 c Quick-cooking oats; uncooked
1 c Raisins

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine flour, soda, salt, and spices; set aside. Combine sugar and
shortening, creaming well; beat in egg and milk. Add flour mixture, mixing
well. Stir in the oats and raisins. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto
lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or
until lightly browned. Cool slightly on cookie sheets; remove to wire racks
to cool completely. Yield: about 3 1/2 dozen.
