Salad With Surprise Topping

INGREDIENTS

Mixture of lettuces
mesclun or … use
spinach and strawberries
or
raspberries
1/4 c White sugar
1/2 T Poppy seeds
1/4 t Paprika
1/2 c Vegetable oil
1/4 c Raspberry vinegar
2 t Finely chopped onion
1/4 t Worcestershire sauce
1/2 c Slivered almonds
1/4 c White sugar
2 t Water

INSTRUCTIONS

And the surprise you've been waiting for ...  Surprise Topping: Combine
topping ingredients in large frying pan.  Cook over medium heat,
stirring until sugar melts to golden brown and  coats almonds (about 5
min.) Turn onto greased foil. Cool, then break  up into small pieces.
Just before serving salad, pour dressing over and top with topping.
(you can prepare a few batches of almonds and keep in a safe place ..
