Sticky ‘n’ Gooey But Good Bars

INGREDIENTS

1 c All-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 t Baking soda
1 c Quick-cooking rolled oats

3/4 c Brown sugar
1/2 c Butter, melted
1 c Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c Chopped nuts
24 Vanilla caramels
1 c Whipping cream

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350øF.  Combine flour, baking soda, rolled oats,
brown sugar and melted butter.  Mix well.  Press 1/2 of this mixture
into a 13x9" baking pan.  Bake for 8 minutes.  Sprinkle with  chocolate
chips and nuts. Melt caramels with cream over low heat,  stirring
occasionally; pour over chips and nuts. Sprinkle remaining  oat mixture
over top. Bake for 20 minutes.  Yield: 3 to 4 dozen   *  If you
substitute large-flake rolled oats, chop by hand or in a food
processor until texture of quick-cooking oats.  Source: Good Friends
