Our job in this life is not to go off on our own and get busy, busy, busy, work, work, work, trying in vain to produce fruit. Trying to love people on our own will lead to a life of frustration. Our responsibility is not to produce the fruit of the Spirit on our own. Our responsibility is to have a relationship to Jesus Christ and to let God use us. It is a life yielded to Christ. It is a life of rest.

    What is the truth?

    The truth is Jesus Christ (Col. 2:2; John 14:6). Jesus is the word of God (John 1:1). Jesus is the Way. Jesus is the life. Jesus is eternal life. Jesus is the Creator. Jesus is the word of God personified. Jesus is everything.

    You need to get to know Him. You can’t even get to the Father without going through Jesus (John 14:6).

    Jesus Christ is our example of how we should live, walk, talk and think. That’s why we should imitate Him and do the works He did, serving others (1 Cor. 11:1). Can you see why we should keep His sayings and obey His words, so we will never see death (John 8:51)? We are commanded to do all that we do in good words or good works in the name of Jesus Christ for the glory of the Father (Col. 3:17).

    Was Jesus perfect? Did He command us to be perfect (Matt. 5:48)? Was Jesus holy? Did He command us to be holy (Eph. 1:4; Rev. 22:11; 1 Peter 1:16)? Didn’t He command a prostitute, ‘Go and sin no more’? Do you think that was an unreasonable command?

    Were Able, Enoch and Noah righteous? Were Abraham, Job and Daniel righteous? Was King David righteous? How about Elijah and John the Baptist? Was Jesus Christ righteous? Are you righteous? Are you making all your ways right and pleasing to the Lord?

    Do you know how to be considered righteous by God? A person who practices righteousness daily to please God is considered righteous by God (1 John 3:7). Did you know that anyone who will not live to please God daily by practicing righteousness remains a son or daughter of the devil (1 John 3:10 )? Do you believe that verse? Then practicing righteousness daily for God is repentance. A true disciple of Jesus Christ overcomes evil by keeping Christ’s works until the end of his life (Rev. 2:26; Psalm 37:27).

    Jesus Himself said many of us will do greater works than He did (John 14:12). The Bible says God is making a peculiar people who are zealous for good works (Titus 2:14). The word of God says those who practice righteousness are scarcely saved (1 Peter 4:18)! Then, what will happen to those who won’t?

    Job knew how to practice righteousness for God (Job 29:12-16; 31:16-20). Daniel knew how to practice righteousness for God (Dan. 4:27). Abraham kept the Ways of the Lord by practicing righteousness, honesty and justice (Gen. 18:19). He also taught his household and servants to do the same.

    Did Jesus do good works for God’s glory? Didn’t He come to show us how to practice righteousness to please God (John 10:32-33)? Did He go about doing good (Acts 10:38)? Did other true disciples practice righteousness for God by going about doing good (Acts 9:36; 10:2)?

    Jesus came to do God’s Will on earth as it is in heaven and to show us how it’s done (John 4:34; 5:30). He did not do good works for the glory of men, but for the Father only; and He commanded us to do the same (John 5:41; Matt. 5:16).

    We are to always do things that are pleasing to the Father and the Son (John 8:29). Jesus did all His works in the Father’s name (John 10:25). We are commanded to do our works in Jesus Christ’s name for the glory of the Father (Col. 3:17).

    If we live like Christ, by living for Christ and keeping Christ’s works, we will live even if we die physically (Rev. 2:26; John 11:25). The Bible says those who do good works for God are resurrected to eternal life and recompensed by God for their works (John 5:29; Matt. 16:27; Rom. 2:6; Rev. 22:12). These are works that true believers have done for God’s glory (Matt. 5:16).

    We are admonished to practice righteousness daily for the glory of God (Titus 2:7, 14; 3:8, 14; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 1 Tim. 5:10). We are constantly admonished not to get weary in well-doingÑwhich is practicing righteousness (2 Thess. 3:13; Eph. 2:10; Gal. 6:9). We are to persevere in doing good for God daily because we are hoping for glory, honor and eternal life (Rom. 2:6-7).

    How many people are doing this today? Are they being told to do this? Do you know anyone who is zealous for good works for God’s glory (Titus 2:14; Matt. 5:16)? How many people do you know who are overcoming evil daily for God by practicing righteousness for God (Rom. 12:21; 1 Peter 3:10-11, 13)?

    Many people are being lead astray and many don’t want to hear what is right (Is. 9:16; 30:10). Many people are offended by the truth. But God is going to punish all those who say they are converted (circumcised), but who remain unconverted (uncircumcised) (Jer. 9:24-25; Phil. 3:2).

    This is the truth! Jesus meant what He said: ‘Unless you repent, you will all surely perish’ (Luke 13:3, 5).
