Mom’s Portuguese Bean Soup

INGREDIENTS

1 lb Dry kidney beans
3 lb Ham hocks
3 Cloves garlic (large), minced
1 tb Salt
Pepper
5 tb Worcestershire sauce
1 lg Maui onion, diced
4 lg Potatoes, cubed
4 lg Carrots, sliced
1 lg Miko (hot) Portuguese sausage, sliced 1/4" thick
1 cn Tomato sauce (8 oz)
1 sm Maui cabbage, chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

Soak beans overnight. Drain. Place beans in large soup pot and cover with
water. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer 3 hours or
longer. Add water, if necessary. Remove ham hocks. Give your favorite cat
or dog the bones, skin and fat. Break up the meat and return it to the
soup. Add cabbage and simmer for an additional 30 minutes. Serve with thick
slices of Portuguese Sweet Bread and butter. You can die now; you're in
