INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 lb Lean ground beef
2 Onions; chopped
3 Cloves garlic; finely chopped
1 cn (28-oz) whole tomatoes; undrained and chopped (I usually crush each tomato by hand) (up to)
4 Jalapeno peppers; seeded and chopped
2 Apples (I like Granny Smith); peeled; cored and chopped coarsely
1/3 c Raisins
1/4 c Pitted green olives (or black olives)
1/4 ts Salt
1/4 ts Ground cinnamon
1/8 ts Ground cloves
1/4 ts Pepper (up to)
1/2 c Slivered almonds
1 ts Olive oil

INSTRUCTIONS

Cook beef, onion and garlic in skillet until meat is browned and the onion
is translucent, crumbling meat.  Drain and add tomatoes and the next 8
ingredients.  Bring mixture to a boil; reduce the heat and simmer for 30
minutes, stir occasionally.  Cook the nuts in skillet over medium-high heat
until toasted.  Sprinkle the almonds over the meat mixture.  **You can
serve this over rice or as a filling for tacos or burritos, also makes a
nice pita bread filling.
