  • 1821 Mary Ann Baker born in Bow, NH
  • 1821 – Mary Ann Baker has many illnesses throughout 1843 childhood.
  • 1843 Mary marries George Glover, who dies of yellow fever within seven months.
    • The pregnant Mary becomes an emotional invalid and begins lifelong use of morphine, although generally was never considered to be an addict.
  • 1850 Dr. Quimby develops a system of mental healing he calls ‘The Science of Man’ aka ‘The Science of Christ’ aka ‘Christian Scientist’
  • 1853 Mary marries Dr. Daniel Patterson (even though Mary’s father advises Dr. Patterson against it)
    • Mary remains emotionally unstable and the divorce some years later
  • 1862 treated by Dr. Quimby for ‘spinal inflammation’ who introduces her to his mental healing treatment methods and his book entitled ‘Science of Health’
    • Later Mary Baker will plagiarize this book in the writing of her ‘Science and Health with Key to the Scripture’
    • Plagiarism confirmed by Reverend Wiggin who had assisted Mary Baker Eddy by editing her writings
