• 1830 – expand into Jackson County, Missouri 1836 (Joseph Smith claims this as location of Eden) (Reorganized Church has turned down $5 million offer by the Utah Church) (Zion identified as Independence, MS)

• 1831 – Joseph Smith has over 135 direct revelations 1844 including their moves to Kirtland, Nauvoo, practice of polygamy.

• 1833 – expelled from Jackson County

• 1844 – Joseph Smith orders destruction of ‘Nauvoo Expositor’

• June 27, 1844 – Joseph Smith murdered in jail while awaiting trial for destruction of the ‘Expositor’

• 1844 – 1846 – Brigham Young assumes control

• 1846 – Brigham Young leads move to Utah, small group remains loyal to Joseph Smith’s descendants as stays to establish the Reorganized Church

• 1847 – arrival in Salt Lake, Utah

• 1857 – Bishop John D. Lee attacks a wagon train at Mountain Meadows

• 1877 – Bishop John D. Lee is tried and executed for murder

• 1890 – President Wilford Woodruf abolishes polygamy under threat of property confiscation by federal government.
