  • 1911 Ron Hubbard, born in Nebraska
    • Ron Hubbard claimed to have a civil engineering degree from George Washington University and a Phd. from Sequoia University in California.
    • Ron Hubbard left George Washington University after his second year having been placed on academic probation
    • The is no such university in California that grants Phd.’s
  • 1930 Ron Hubbard becomes a science fiction novelist
  • 1938 Science fiction novel ‘Excaliber’ begins to suggest concepts of Scientology.
  • 1950 Hubbard published ‘Astounding Science Fiction’ and ‘Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health’ (content includes mental, emotional, spiritual perfection; millions of copies sold)
  • 1952 Hubbard reorganized his ‘Dianetics Movement’ into Scientology, thus announcing it as a religious system.
  • 1963 raided by the FDA
  • 1966 moves Headquarters from Saint Hill, England to his 300 foot yacht ‘Apollo’
