  • 1882 Mary Baker Eddy (in Boston Post – June 5, 1882) accuses former students of poisoning Asa Baker with ‘malicious mesmerism’
    • Current Christian Science members would like to forget that she ever wrote this.
  • 1896 membership over 400
  • 1897 faithful members commanded to sell ‘Miscellaneous Writings’ and ‘Science and Health’ by Mrs. Baker.
  • 1910 Mary Baker Eddy dies
    • Christian Science Board of Directors assumed control of her empire by obtaining a self-perpetuating directorate from the Massachusetts Supreme Court.
    • Fight for power ensured by other Board members who quote Mary Baker Eddy that a replacement would be named within 50 years.
  • 1924 Mrs. Eddy’s name was removed from active officers list by the Board of Directors ending any opportunity for legal threats.
